The openly gay Republican has built his political career opposing LGBTQ+ inclusion — particularly transgender rights. He's reposted antisemitic conspiracy theories and claimed to be a reincarnated "Black gangbanger." Still, he's been endorsed by sitting and past lawmakers.

LOOKOUT will receive yearlong research, public records and investigative support ahead of the 2026 midterm elections through MuckRock’s new Sunlight Research Desk initiative.
The grant comes with entrance into an incubator program led by American Journalism Project that will help fulfill our mission as Arizona’s only LGBTQ+ investigative news outlet
The news organization is calling on all news outlets to help build out its diversity database, in order to build trust in the community and among readers.
